Welcome from Ian and Andrew, your technical support while you do the Webstart course. We have created this site to give you a focal point for support with the intention of expanding on the information supplied in the course and also providing updates and reporting errata.

We will try to answer your support queries as soon as we can, but always within 24 hours. To help us to help you, please give us as much information as possible with your query and if appropriate, attach the page and any images.

Important information for students

As many people have found, we are fairly laid back and easy going. Any comments on your designs will be constructive advice, not criticism. Designs are individual to the creator, and if you want to use a particular design or colour combination, we may suggest alternatives and will explain our reasoning, but that doesn't mean you should abandon your idea. Take a look aroung the internet and you will find so many design alternatives, many are incredible examples of a combination of art and functionality, but some however, are less than good. The biggest failure is poor navigation, get that right and you're well on the way to a good design.

The important thing is to enjoy what you are doing, if something won't work take a break. Go get a cup of coffee or a glass of something stronger, it will come to you. If it doesn't - get in touch, that's what we are here for.

Also, don't give up! We can both remember taking weeks over some of our assignments when we were learning but you just have to keep persevering. Believe me this is just the start - you'll be learning constantly from now on and it won't all be easy.

Above all - Enjoy! Web design is very rewarding and satisfying and you'll get hooked. Just make sure you save some time for the family :)
